Are you concerned, troubled, or feeling anxious about the rapidly changing technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), and its impact on various aspects of our lives, including work, social life, and the broader community, such as the church? You are not alone.
Humans are seeking peace while also finding ways to secure an income amidst the widespread changes led by large tech companies. We see workers being laid off as their jobs are being taken over by AI (AI now generates 25% of new programming code in Google), while the latest industry demands concurrently create new jobs needing new skill sets.
Ironically, we are turning to AI for counselling and psychological support. According to a report from Harvard Business Review in 2025, the world's top 3 uses of AI are related to therapy, companionship, finding purpose and organising life. We hear many stories of people emotionally depending on AI partners, as AI tools are available 24/7, with no grumpiness or silence treatment.
Hi, my name is Tin Siong, and I have worked in the IT industry for over three decades. I was first introduced to AI and Machine Learning (ML) through a course at MIT, and I have since been fascinated. I very much believe that it will change the world, and thus the church and its members, since we live in this world, although we do not belong to it.
I started doing research and soon discovered applications of AI in ministry and admin, for example, writing different versions of church campaign letters to the respective group involved, each with their unique focus, target audience and motivation, it would have been too time-consuming in the past, but can now be easily achieved using Gen AI.
Doors opened by God, driven by curiosity and uncertainty in AI
In 2022, I started teaching at Singapore Bible College and giving talks at churches on "Technology and Ministry". The growing interest in AI, driven by tools like ChatGPT and Gemini (back then, the name was called Bard), spread to the church.

Concerns about using AI in Church and Ministry
I will usually conduct an online survey with the church members after my talk to find out about their concerns about AI, and these are some of the findings:
Is it safe to use AI in church?
Maybe AI can be used for admin tasks, but not for preaching?
Would my member think I am lazy or less trustworthy?
Can I trust AI? They can give wrong information, you know?
What are the ethical concerns?
Do you share some of their concerns, or do you have other concerns? Let me know in the comments.
My sharing does not answer all their questions; I aimed to achieve awareness, reduce their fear of AI and Technology in general, and encourage them to explore and learn more.
God's Intelligence
We are caught in this historical technological revolution in a unique time of uncertainties. We are like being washed down a rushing river, hit by currents of AI disruptions, each one wilder than the previous, every innovation a larger surprise beyond human imaginations, and the cycle gets shorter and shorter.
It is increasingly vital to refocus on God.
When we anchor our sight on the unchanging promise of God, it helps us to keep still and know that God is with us.
Reaching more with this Blog
I am very new to Blogging!! But by starting this blog, I hope to reach more church workers and ministers and share technological updates in an easy-to-understand manner. God willing, may He grow this ministry and use it to equip us.
In this special era, when human intelligence is challenged in every aspect by artificial intelligence, may God grant us the wisdom to see God's unchanging Intelligence amidst all this.
